Candle

Product Care

For your safety, and to get the best out of your soy candle, follow these simple instructions.

Burning:
The first time you light your candle, it is important to allow the wax to melt right to the edge of the container.  This is called a melt pool.  Allowing a full melt pool guarantees an even burn (no tunnelling). And maximum fragrance throw.
As a general rule, burn the candle a minimum of 3 hours the first time and for at least 2 hours at a time after that.
Do not burn your candle or more than 4 hours at a time.
Do not burn in a draft.  A draft may provide more oxygen to a flame which may cause a hotter, uneven burn.

Wicks:
Before each use, trim the candle’s wick to 5mm.  This stops smoking and dripping, creates an even burn pattern and your candle will last longer.
Never move or relight your candle until flame is out and completely solid.
If the wick becomes too long while burning, extinguish flame and then trim.
Be sure to not over trim the wick.  If the wick is too short it will result in too small of a flame and the melt pool will not reach the edges of the container.
Centre the wick after each burn and do not allow trimmed wicks, matches or other objects to remain in the candle.
Don’t blow your candle out.  Put your candle out by using a candle snuffer or dipping the wick using a wick dipper, into the melted wax and straightening the wick.  This stops the wick smoking and will help with relighting next time.  Never use a container’s lid to put out flame.
We suggest that you purchase a pair of wick trimmers from us which are specially designed for easy care of your candle, however, a pair of nail clippers or scissors will also work.

Safety:
Be careful when handling, cut glass can be sharp.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep free of any foreign material.
Burn candles away from soft furnishings and other combustibles.
Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Always burn your candle on a level, heat resistant surface and away from drafts.
Only burn your candle to the last centimetre to prevent glass cracking.
Do not allow water or moisture to mix with the wax.  This can cause the wax to splatter or pop.
Caution, container may become hot.

Storage:
Try to store your candle cool, dry area, below 25 degrees, and keep away from direct sunlight.
On extremely hot days you might notice the candle sweat slightly.  This is nothing to worry about and reabsorbs into the wax when the temperature goes down.

Appearance:
Some imperfections are only natural with hand poured candles and with soy wax.  Every candle will be slightly different.
When using natural soy wax there may be spots where the wax has not adhered 100% to the glass.  This is completely normal and nothing to worry about.
It is normal for the wax to become slightly darker after the wax has melted when lit.

Most Important: ENJOY YOUR CANDLE!
